Here is a bust I did after catching Sleepy Hollow on TV. Ended up doing an older version of Christopher Walken in the end rather than a "Headless Horseman" version .......... I thought it was a bit more interesting!!

I started this as a sketch bust from ZSpheres a while back. Like with most of my models it has grown into a full character based on Ray Lamontagne. Currently I am retopologising the clothes as well as making some tweaks to the anatomy underneath ......... I know it's there :D

Had a bit of down time so thought that I would try and sculpt a head in Mudbox to see how it compares to the mighty ZBrush.

Generally, once I had found the brushes that behaved similarly to my favourite ZB ones, it was pretty cool. A few little annoying things like not being able to mirror meshes (eg eyes) but there are always work arounds. Also, it didn't seem to handle the number of polys that ZB can and I was using a pretty high spec machine.

Will try and carry on the experiment while I only have a Linux box at work but for now I am still a ZB man!!

It's been a while but have finally found the time to do some work outside of work.

I found this concept by an artist called Tyler James http://artofty.blogspot.com and I thought it would be awesome to try and sculpt it. Other than the concept being fantastic I thought it would be good to try and work on a model which has someone else's style ........... just like I have to do at work. All in the name of practice!!!

An update on the Anubis model with round One of adding the armour. Also
here is a WIP of Havok. Was thinking of entering the Game Artisans
Comicon Challenge but decided I wouldn't have enough time. This is as
far as I have got at the mo. His feet look massive so that need looking at.

Another personal piece.

Anubis!! Kind of designing it on the fly so no idea where it is likely
to end up.

Base mesh created in ZSpheres and then when the form was bloked out I
retopologised the mesh into 3 subtools (head, body and hands). In my
mind that is where the breaks will come but who knows.

Another quick update for the Aston DB4 Zagato. After a day of mucking about with an environment I decided that Iker's looked better and so he gave me a copy!! Sweet! SO big thatnks to him.

Here are just a couple of pics, to show what i have been up to for the
last few weeks.............while no one has any actual work for me to do
I thought I would get get on and do some stuff that I have been wanting
to do for a while.

Spiderman - this is a ZBrush sculpt from ZSpheres. First time I have
tried this method so I am pretty chuffed with the way at is going. It
was all ZSpheres in the beginning, but I hated the hands so i chopped
them off and rebuilt them in Maya.

Old man - Just more time in Maya. Box modelled this head from reference
I got at 3d.sk. Just trying to get better at Maya
really...............can't hurt i guess. I plan to UV this and then
take it into ZBrush to add the finer details. Not sure if am going to
texture it, but we will see.

Here is a car I built in Maya. I did a Digital Tutors as I thought it
might 1) help me get better at Maya, and 2) Give an example of another
workflow for automotive modelling ....................... which it did
on both counts.

Having finally got some time off I have decided to add to my portfolio
with a bit of hard surface modelling. I was going to do a camera, but

So here it is, as finished as he is going to get for the time being. Fairly happy with him, although I am sure that I could spend a good few hours tweaking. Hope people like it. Chuffed that I actually got a chance to do this model, now I can move on the next thing.........not sure what that is going to be at the moment though.....watch this space.

So......in an attempt to fix the neck, here is another tweak. At least it looks like a bit of a work in progress with all of these amends.

Here is a bit of an update on 'Cap'. After some comments on ZBrush Central I have tried to re-pose him a litte and started to add some colour into the mix. Far from a finished piece, but it is starting to get there and considering I had never planned to texture him I am pretty pleased.

As a huge Marvel fan this is a model that I have always wanted to do. Finally I have got round to doing the ZBrush sculpt, no colour or UV's as yet but I think that this is a good start. So here are some renders. The first is straight out of ZBrush and the second is the first frame of a turntable I have started rendering out of XSI.

It is not finished, but I think that it is a good start. The face is my next port of call.............watch this space!!

Here are the movies that I have created as part of my MA in 3D Computer Animation.

Term 3: the "Chopper Dog" term. This was when I decided to concentrate on modelling hence the rather dull turntable:

Term 2: Group Project. This is the piece that I created with Colin Bombard and Ahmad Habash, both of whom where awesome on this project and remains my favourite piece of work to date.........just for it's completeness and stuff. I still love the "Chopper Dog" too.

Term 1: Billy................fond memories............well not really.........this was the first human-ish character animation I did, the Billy model and rig and also the music were given to us all as part of the assignment. The pings at the beginning still send shivers down my spinw!!

Term 1: This is my first piece of character animation ever..........still quite happy with it as a start point.

To kick off this whole blog type thing I thought that I would just chuck down some random images that I have created. Some are work from my previous life as a "Reatil Interior Designer" and others are just pictures that I have done for no real reason at all. Will hopefully get the chance to put up some of the work that I am currently engaged in and some of the work that I have completed as part of my MA in 3D Computer Animation................so much for everyone to look forward to!!

Because my life is sooooooo interesting I thought that yu should all be able to read about it and see what i have been up to whenever the need takes you.
